Las Vegas Travel Vacations.

I would like to visit Las Vegas sometime about mid-September. I would like to stay at the Mirage and of course I would like to get the lowest room rates possible. The last time I was in Las Vegas many of the hotels had signs advertising cheaper hotel rooms.
Would it be to my advantage to wait till September to get a better deal on room rates or is mid-September a time hotels might sell out and I had better make a reservation now? Any assistance anyone could provide would be appreciated.


It all depends on whether there is some trade show or convention in town. If you go in November when Comdex is in town or whenever the CES show is, expect to pay through the nose for a room if you can get one at all! The Mirage is great, but I suspect that in September the crowds who wouldn't THINK about going to the desert in summer will be returning.

However, the new resort (Bellagio?) owned by the same consortium as the Mirage and Treasure Island is due to open later this year, so it might just be that all the high rollers will be checking THAT resort out, leaving more rooms available than usual at the Mirage.

As for rates, it's always a lot cheaper if you stay Sun to Thursday night. The rooms that they have on these promos (typically $20-30 + tax) are limited like airline seats. It wouldn't hurt to check what promo rates they have and book now, and recheck what they have closer to the time you go. You can always cancel if you find a better rate.
